Darrell Swigert has devoted his life, and money, to helping young hockey players.

"I don't have any children of my own and I had a few bucks saved up, so it just seemed like a natural thing to do."

- Darrell Swigert.

The Swigert Foundation

Swigert Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation created in 2002.  One of its goals is to help young men realize their dreams to play hockey. Darrell Swigert has loved Ice Hockey for as long as he can remember and still plays today when he finds the time.

The Foundation has helped over 330 young skaters enhance their skills and develop a love for their sport. The primary focus of the Foundation is for kids to have a safe place to have fun and become better at their sport.  In 2009 he helped Coach John Olver and the Idaho Hockey Foundation create Idaho's first Junior A team to prepare 17- 20 year old skaters for professional and college hockey programs.  This Junior A team won the Western States Hockey League Division and League championships in March, 2011 by defeating the El Paso Rhinos and winning the Thorne Cup.  The following month the team, with Darrell behind the bench, went on to place 3rd in National competition in only their 2nd year of existence.

Application rounds for the current year open July 15.
Have fun on the ice!
